According to court documents, a former housekeeper who worked for Dr. Dre filed a lawsuit against him in California. Reportedly, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles and alleged wrongful termination and harassment against the entertainment mogul and his wife.
The plaintiff worked as a housekeeper for 13 months until she was terminated in February 2015. During that time, she reportedly earned a salary of $1,870 per week. The woman claims that two other members of the housekeeping staff engaged in a pattern of constant harassment of her. She also claims that they refused to do their work, leaving it to her.
The plaintiff claims that Dr. Dre and his wife are responsible for the harassment because they allegedly did nothing to stop it. She claims that the harassment created such a hostile workplace environment that she felt physical and emotional pain. Reportedly, the stress was so great that she ended up requiring hospitalization and was terminated afterwards. Through the lawsuit, the plaintiff is seeking both compensatory and punitive damages. It is unclear whether Dr. Dre and his wife have filed a response to the complaint.
People who have been wrongfully terminated may want to speak with an employment law attorney. An attorney may review the facts of the case to determine whether or not the termination was wrongful or not. If it was, the attorney may choose to initiate the process through the filing of a lawsuit. Through a wrongful termination lawsuit, plaintiffs may be able to recover damages to compensate them for lost wages and other losses they have suffered.
